Safety in storms
If a storm is very close, turn your power OFF if possible and unplug all unnecessary electrical appliances to avoid potential damage.
Here are some tips to help make your property storm-safe:
- check for trees and branches growing within 1 metre of powerlines. Even if they're not touching the lines, imagine how much they could sway in strong wind. Contact a professional tree trimmer to prune or remove the danger.
- don’t plant shrubs or trees that will grow higher than 3.5 metres near powerlines
- keep the area below powerlines free of combustible materials, such as garden waste
- if you suspect that a power pole or line on your property is not in good working order, call Integral Energy on 131 003
- if you come across a damaged or fallen powerline, keep yourself and others well clear and report it to Integral Energy immediately on 131 003, or the emergency services on 000.
