Community consultation

Community information and consultation has included steps by Integral Energy to:

  • brief and discuss the development with Parramatta City Council, management and staff since 2004
  • respond to enquiries from residents living near the substation since May 2005
  • brief the local Member of Parliament
  • indicate Integral Energy’s intention to develop the site as a zone substation by placing a sign on the Elizabeth Street site in May 2008
  • announce plans for the zone substation in the local media in September 2008
  • provide direct information to residents through a community newsletter to fifty three nearby properties in September 2008
  • meet with two residents in May 2009 to provide detailed information and answer questions regarding the zone substation on behalf of the Minister for Energy
  • attend meetings with representatives of the community action group to hear community feedback
  • respond to requests from the Minister for Energy to assess alternative sites suggested by community representatives.

Integral Energy also provided further advice to two issues raised by the residents, which can be viewed by clicking on the links below.
