What is happening in the electricity industry?

Since 1 January 2002, NSW consumers have been able to choose their energy retailer. 

 

Deregulation in the retail electricity market provides customers with a wider range of products, increased efficiencies, competitive pricing and enhanced levels of customer service.

 

Recently, the NSW Government announced its plans to transfer Integral Energy’s electricity retailing operation to the private sector. Integral Energy’s network business (the ‘poles and wires’) will remain publicly-owned and is not affected by the Government’s plans.
