You probably spend more on heating water than on any other area of power use. There are plenty of ways for you to reduce these costs.

 

• keep your system well maintained by fixing leaks and insulating tanks and pipes
• fit a flow restrictor to your shower
• use cold water for clothes washing and rinsing vegetables
• if you are heating water for a pool, use a pool blanket
• turn your hot water system off or down when you go away
• fix leaking taps quickly
• if you have off peak 2 hot water, consider having your pool connected to off peak
